Drive Shafts
It is important that you know that certain upgrades exist
when attempting to build a high performance vehicle. Below are some of the
upgrades that you may want to include in your drive shaft when dealing
with high torque and/or horse power.
-
Half ton to
one ton CV.
-
Tube wall
thickness from 83 thousands wall to 125 or 250 etc.
-
Standard CV
to a high angle CV
-
A high
angle CV to a super high angle 2 ton CV the “Bad Boy”. This is used for
super angle and strength.
-
End yokes
on the transfer case and differential from a 1310, one ton 1350s or to
ton and a half 1410s.
-
Heavy duty
kits for Wranglers instead of the standard factory drive shaft.
The Choices you make above should be strictly dependent on
what you will be doing with your vehicle. High torque does not necessarily
mean that you will break a u-joint if you don’t upgrade, because a
half-ton u-joint takes 1600 ft-lbs to break. Not too many vehicles can
produce that under normal driving. But whose talking normal driving !! If
you are going to expect your vehicle to endure the horrors of “pedal to
the metal” in competition such as rock crawling, mud bogging, off road
racing, and just plain off road, now is the time to think about upgrades.
Call us at the Drive Shaft Super Store and we will spend as
much time necessary to discuss your need
Pre-tested Differentials
The upgrades for these are all list in the differentials
section. In short, a front or rear differential can be cut to be used in a
narrower wheel base vehicle. For instance, we can take a 14 Bolt one ton
differential and set it up to be used under a jeep. What we need to know
is the total wheelbase and the distance between the perches.
Also, a large rear drum type differential can be taken and
converted to disc brakes. A sample picture is provided in the differential
section.
Lockers of different makes, spools, mini-spools can be
added and gears changed. All these choices are list in the differential
section. If just want the parts, please call for prices.
Normally we do complete differential and we truck them to
you. We would like to have your cores so all differentials are price with
or without cores.
All our differentials are pre-tested at highway speeds for
noises. These tests are unloaded tests where many of the noises are found.
Our exchange program recognizes that many of our customer
are looking to upgrade from a weaker to a stronger differential so we do
not require a one to one trade of the differential type that you buy. We
do require a minimum of a Dana 44 for a core to satisfy a Dana 44, 60, 70,
Corp 14 bolt. We prefer that when you buy a Dana 60 you give us a Dana 60
as a core. Anything less that a Dana 44 the core charge rises by $100.
Our differential are like new, but they are not new. When
we get them we replace all bearing, axles if needed, steam clean them
inside and out, add your features, paint them black and test them. They
work and look like new.
In the case of a disc brake job, all rotors, calipers,
lines etc are brand spanking new. No short cuts because we value quality.
